The Optimist Club offers several college scholarships to entering freshmen through the club as well as through Optimist International. Some scholarships are given to winners of various contests such as oratorical and essay while others are given based on need, academics and service to the community.

When and Where: Students must be sponsored by a local Optimist Club in order to compete at their respective Regional-level contest held in March. Regional-level winners will compete at the District-level contest to be held at the Pacific Northwest Optimist District Spring Board Meeting in Longview, Washington from April 24-26, 2020.

The Pittsburgh North Optimist Foundation, in conjunction with Optimist International Foundation, is participating in this year’s 2018-2019 Optimist International Essay Contest. The contest is divided into two levels of competition: Club and District. PNOC is the local club level. Entrant must be under age 19 and a current high school student.

Optimist International hosts an annual Oratorical and Essay Contest. As a club we host a local contest. The winner of our club contest than competes at the District level. District winners are then eligible to compete at the National level. Winners receive scholarship funds at each level.
